Privacy Policy
OffTorque LLC ("OffTorque," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our platform at offtorque.com or the OffTorque mobile app.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and account role (customer or service professional).
Service requests: Customers submit trade-specific details (for example, vehicle details for auto repair, or other relevant details depending on the service), a description of the need, service location, preferred appointment time, and contact information.
Service professional verification data: Service professionals complete identity verification through Stripe as part of connecting their payout account, and a background check completed in person at their local BCI/FBI office. OffTorque receives only an onboarding status result from Stripe, we do not store your government-issued ID. Your background check result is reviewed and confirmed manually by an OffTorque administrator; OffTorque does not receive or store the background check report itself.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. OffTorque does not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details. We receive a transaction confirmation, amount, and a Stripe-generated transaction ID.
Messages: Messages sent between customers and service professionals through the platform are stored in our database and may be reviewed by OffTorque for safety and dispute resolution purposes.
Usage data: We collect basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and general usage patterns to improve the platform. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Push notifications: If you opt in to push notifications, we collect a notification token via OneSignal. You can opt out at any time through your device settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate the platform and connect customers with verified service professionals
- Process payments and send transaction receipts
- Send transactional communications (account confirmation, password reset, job status updates, appointment reminders)
- Verify service professional identity and conduct background checks before granting platform access
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Respond to customer support inquiries and resolve disputes
- Improve the platform and fix technical issues
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. How We Share Your Information
Your information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- Between customers and service professionals: When a customer submits a service request, their contact name, phone number, email, and service location are visible to verified service professionals on the platform. When a service professional accepts a job, their profile details are visible to the requesting customer.
- Third-party service providers: We use the service providers listed in Section 4 to operate the platform. Each provider processes your data solely as needed to deliver their service.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of OffTorque, our users, or the public.
- Business transfer: If OffTorque is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you by email before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely via Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. Database access is protected by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies, customers can only access their own data, service professionals can only access jobs relevant to their work, and administrative access requires elevated authentication.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your profile and account credentials are deleted immediately
- Your chat messages are deleted immediately
- Your service request history is anonymized (your name, phone, email, and address are scrubbed) rather than deleted, so the platform and any service professional you worked with retain accurate job records without retaining your personal information
- Payment transaction records are retained for up to 7 years for financial compliance purposes
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information. OffTorque does not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at support@offtorque.com.
9. Children's Privacy
OffTorque is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email when material changes are made, at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect when the current version took effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
